LITTLE BUCKET COSMETIC BAG

The pattern for this cosmetic bag can be found on Etsy at Napkitten Pattern.  It is easy to follow, and the only problem I had was caused by using  foam. This made it  difficult when adding the binding, and the inside top and bottom pieces.   I'm not as yet experienced at using this product!  I've used it in bags and it's been great, but small pieces...well I need to learn a few tricks of the trade!

The owner of this Etsy Shop, Shannon was very helpful.  She was quick to reply to any questions!

A MERRY CHRISTMAS GIFT

This tote bag is just basic with no inner pockets, and  one large outer one.   My friend hinted she would like a bag with no pockets, something very plain, no closures, so this is what I came up with.  She had previously seen the fabric and loved it.  I could not, not add the front pocket nor add the grommet !!  I also quilted the bag and added a bottom insert, so the bag wouldn't sag.  I wouldn't mind having a whole bolt of this fabric...it's absolutely beautiful!!

The fabric is by Katarina Rocella and can be viewed at her blog site HERE!  She is one amazing young woman! I ordered the fabric from Fabric Spark, a Canadian fabric store!

Now looking at the bag, I see the grey fabric should have been lined up to match!  Too late!  I don't think my friend would be too concerned!!  I'll try to remember next time!  It's so soft, smooth, and.... squishy!   This is one of my favorites!

A GREAT STOCKING STUFFER !

This little pouch is so cute, and would make a great stocking stuffer!!  The approximate size is about 3.5 long, 1.25 inches tall and 2.25 inches wide.

I would really like to make a few more using Christmas fabric.  There's a  tutorial by Deby Cole on YouTube which you can find HERE or if you prefer a print out of the tutorial, visit  Sew So Easy.

LITTLE DIY GIFT

This lined  8" x 6" zippered pouch can be made in less than two hours. It is quilted, having a front pocket with a snap closure.     You could use any leftover pieces of fabric from another project to make this.  A couple of bars of homemade soap or lotion bars slipped into the pouch, or a pair of earrings in the front pocket would make a welcomed gift.  There are  a lot of possibilities!

WALKER BAG

I've been wanting to make a walker bag for some time, and finally managed to get one made today.  There are various kinds, and this is a very simple one.  It has an outer and  inner pocket,  and two straps with velcro closures.  I also added a removable bottom base to the bag, so it wouldn't sag.  There's a heavier interfacing along with the quilt batting which I applied to the top of the bag so it wouldn't droop.  I was wondering about a center strap, but then the person might have problems with reaching in, so I decided to try it this way.

I'm not doing a tutorial, as it is a basic tote bag, lined,  and it has two straps.  I'm sure there's a few things I could improve on.  I'll let you know when it's  tried and tested!

Craftsy has an excellent tutorial for a tote bag and pouch as I mentioned before.  The tote bag tutorial would be good to use for this!

ZIPPER POUCH - Free Craftsy Class

This is a simple pouch I made while watching a free Craftsy class.   I quilted this one as I'm crazy about quilting!!  This was presented by Kirstin Link and the class is called BAG-MAKING BASICS, Reversible Tote & Zipper Pouch. It is excellent. I go back and review quite often!

It is great for beginners as well as anyone who hasn't made a bag or pouch before. It gives you the basics to complete both projects.

What I like about Craftsy is that the video classes are not removed after a few months. They are there for many years, available to watch and/or review.   I also like that I can follow along with Kirstin, stop the video if I need to, and go back. You can find the class HERE.

THE BEGINNING...and progressing!

I started this bag awhile ago, and have been doing just a little bit here and there.  I love the color of it, although here it doesn't look as bright & vibrant as it really is.

My inspiration came from the Missouri Quilt Co.  You can check out their you tube video HERE!
I didn't make it exactly the same.  I added a few more charms, zipper, pocket, tab, and the flap, but you can see by the pictures how it was done.  My quilting is different as well!

I probably should have put in a longer zipper, but this is all I had.

The zipper pocket is a good size!  I sewed along the bottom of the pocket twice.

I added some piping to the top of the outer pocket and used  batting as an interfacing.  So soft!  I put two pieces of pocket pieces, right sides facing, together, then sewed around the outside.  I left a small opening in the bottom to pull the pocket right side out.  I then added the tab.  Press well before sewing onto the bag.  Sew around the three sides.  I sewed back and forth at the corners a couple of times.

The finished pocket - note the tab.  This is where the flap of the bag will go through.

The tab.

I decided to use a grommet.  This flap goes through the tab, and sits securely.

Just place the straps and flap on the bag, as you normally would when sewing the lining in, and sew all around.  Make sure your straps are not twisted.  Basically follow the directions for the charms tote bag by Missouri Quilt for your straps and lining.

The finished project!

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.  If you've made a few of these bags, and want them posted, just e-mail me at lindaspears49@gmail.com

That's all for now!
